Austin On-Demand Household Hazardous Waste Pickup
Austin Resource Recovery curbside customers can book up to 3 home pickups of hazardous waste a year, up to 30 gallons each. Book in the Austin Recycles app, online or by calling 3-1-1. Don't set items at the curb.
Can I use it?
For Austin Resource Recovery residential curbside customers: single-family homes and buildings with up to four units. Not for businesses.
People from other areas are turned away.
Household waste only. No business waste.

How to book
You choose the day when you book. Have items out by 5:30am on your pickup day.
You need an appointment.
Book in the Austin Recycles app, online, or call 3-1-1 (512-974-2000). Pick every item you will set out. You can't change a booking: cancel it and book again.

If you have more than 30 gallons, book another pickup or take it to the Recycle and Reuse Center (appointment required). For needles and syringes, Austin's rules say to seal them in a hard plastic or metal container with a screw-on or tight lid, label it "sharps" and put it in your trash cart.
Good to know
Do not set items at the curb. Leave them where the crew can reach them, out of rain and direct sun and away from heat or flame. Seal and label every container. Bag leaking containers separately in zip-top bags. Boxes and tubs are not returned. Restrain pets.
