When to go

Twice a year, in spring and fall, 9am to 2pm. The next date has not been set yet. Call the city to ask.

• Fluorescent bulbs and tubes

In their words: paint-related materials, household cleaners, white goods (free of freon) and microwaves, batteries (no rechargeable batteries), electronics (TVs, computers, and monitors), pool chemicals, aerosol cans, tires (maximum of 4), fluorescent bulbs.

Needles and sharps: not taken here.

Other options they point to

For used needles, put them in a strong plastic container. When it is 3/4 full, seal the lid with duct tape, label it "Do Not Recycle" and put it in your household trash. For car fluids, ask a local auto parts store or use the Stella Roberts Recycling Center in Pearland. League City residents can take other hazardous waste to Stella Roberts for a fee.

Good to know

Put leaking containers inside a larger container that does not leak.
